Another New Serial Number Scheme 1973 to 1981 A number is impressed into back of the headstock. The 1 or 2 digits before the hyphen show the month (1=Jan, 12=Dec.) The first digit after hyphen shows the last digit of year.

The first letter gives the year (starting with A for 1961) and the second letter is the month of manufacture, A through L. Dating Rickenbacker models from 1987 to 1991 From 1987 to 1991 the dating is a little different. The first letter on jackplate is the month and the number is the year starting with 1987 represented by "0".
